Tim Flannery

Explorer

The explorer and scientist, Tim Flannery, is known for his passionate dedication to the preservation of the Earth's natural environment, and the conservation of natural ecosystems. From a young age, Flannery became fascinated by the many exotic creatures, plants and landscapes that dotted the Australian countryside. He went on to dedicate his life to the study of these creatures and the ecosystems in which they live. Spanning three decades, his many field trips and research projects across Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Southeast Asia have provided us with deeper insight into the secrets of the natural world. His expertise extends into the fields of climatology and geology, as well as geography and biological anthropology. He is a full professor at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia, and has received numerous honors and awards for his research. Most notably, he is the recipient of the 2007 Westerhout Scientific Award, tribute to his lifetime achievements in conservation. In addition to his research and academic pursuits, Flannery has written numerous books "The Future Eaters" and "The Weather Makers". He was also the host of the ABC four-part series, "Australia – The Time Traveller's Guide", which explored five landscapes that have spanned the course of human life in Australia. An accomplished public speaker, Flannery is an outspoken advocate for the protection of the natural environment and its wild creatures. He strives to raise public awareness about the fragility of our planet, and the dire importance of responsible conservation practices. He is also on the board of the Copenhagen Climate Council, and is actively engaged in making policy recommendations on best conservation practices. Tim Flannery is an inspiration to all those who respect the natural environment and wish to preserve its beauty and integrity. He is a beacon to budding environmentalists, an ambassador of conservation, and an invaluable source of knowledge and inspiration.
