He was also deeply engaged in social issues of the day, such as racial discrimination and freedom. Dumas was a celebrated author in his day, and is even more revered now for his captivating stories and timeless characters. His books have been adapted into films, television, music and even operas. His influence can be seen in other authors and writers who have been inspired by his work. Today, Dumas remains one of the world's most popular and inspiring authors.
