Jennifer Hyman is the co-founder and CEO of Rent the Runway, the revolutionary clothing rental service. Since founding the company in 2009, Jennifer has spearheaded the business’s growth from a two person startup to a revolutionary player in the fashion industry, redefining the way women access, wear and return designer clothing. Jennifer is a passionate advocate for female entrepreneurship, dedication to fighting for gender equality and inspiring the next generation of female leaders. Earlier this year, Rent the Runway was named to the inaugural Bloomberg Gender Equality Index and Jennifer was named the EY Entrepreneur of The Year in the Retail and Consumer Products category. Prior to launching Rent the Runway, Jennifer worked in the mergers & acquisitions group at Lehman Brothers and was a Senior Associate at Mafia Capital. She also served on the boards of Sirius XM Radio and Tory Burch Foundation, an organization that has provided over $75 million in economic opportunity to women. Jennifer is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Business School. She was recognized as Ernst & Young’s “Entrepreneur of the Year” award for her revolutionary business in 2016. In addition to driving Rent the Runway’s success, Jennifer has helped to create a women-friendly culture and industry. She created the “CEO Pledge” and the first annual “Unmentoring” event that brings together female entrepreneurs, disrupting the traditional “mentoring” approach, which creates a much more diverse and inclusive environment. Jennifer uses her platform to discuss entrepreneurship and leadership, both at industry events and when addressing younger generations. With Jennifer at the helm, Rent the Runway has raised over $215 million, is valued at over a billion dollars, and continues to revolutionize the fashion industry - she is an inspiration for women to take risks and challenge the traditional conventions of their industry.
