Glenn Hubbard

Economist and academic

Glenn Hubbard is one of the most respected and influential economists of our day. As Dean Emeritus of Columbia University’s Business School and a prominent conservative voice, Hubbard has made immense contributions to economic policy both at the governmental and academic levels. He is the author or co-author of several economic textbooks, which are widely used in business schools around the country. At the governmental level, he held numerous key positions in the Bush Administration, such as Chair of the Council of Economic Advisers and Deputy Assistant Secretary at the Department of the Treasury. During this time, he was an integral part of policy debates concerning tax reform and budget issues, as well as Social Security, education and health care. He is also an active speaker at policy forums and an adviser to both governmental and non-governmental organizations on economic and financial topics. At the academic level, Hubbard is an outspoken advocate of traditional and “supply-side” economic theories. He has served as a professor at both the Wharton School of Business and Columbia University’s Business School, where he was the Dean from 2004 to 2019. Hubbard is frequently cited in the media for his keen insights on economic and financial issues, and his 2008 book Balancing the Budget: Should We Hold Deficits or Our Noses? is often used as a reference guide for understanding and analyzing economic policymaking. Glenn Hubbard is a highly respeceted economist and scholar, who has significantly impacted the field through his writings, government positions, and tenure as Dean of Columbia University’s Business School. His expertise and knowledge of economic theory are invaluable assets to policy makers, academic institutions, and the general public alike.
