Craig McCaw is an American businessman and entrepreneur. He has made successful investments and acquisitions in the telecommunications, wireless and broadband industries, and is known for developing the first national cellular network in the United States. McCaw has been at the forefront of the wireless and telecommunications businesses for nearly three decades. He was the Chairman and CEO of McCaw Cellular from 1984 to 1994, when it was sold to AT&T for $11.5 billion in stock. McCaw then invested in two satellite companies, Hughes Communications and Northpoint Communications, and formed Clearwire. He is the founder and chairman of Eagle River Holdings, an investment firm seeking the best options and opportunities to accelerate the development of cutting-edge technologies. McCaw’s achievements have been recognized by several awards, including Citigroup's 12th Annual Infinity Awardfor Outstanding Entrepreneurship and the American Marketing Association’s 2011 Outstanding Individual Achievement Award. In addition to his business achievements, McCaw has had a long history of philanthropic contributions. He is an active supporter of the Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research Foundation, the Junior Achievement Program and the Alexander McCaw Charitable Fund.
